A footwear and accessories line designed and manufactured in Kenya by women of the Maasai tribe. The non profit ADCAM (www.adcam.es) and Pikolinos are teaming up for the Maasai Project, in which more than 1,600 Maasai women use traditional craftsmanship to hand-embroider leather sent from Spain for shoes and bags. Once decorated, the leather is returned to Spain where the shoes are finished. For the first time, the Maasai women are earning a salary that allows them to improve the quality of life of the entire community while holding on to their traditions and lifestyle. It is a stable source of income that gives them access to food and medicine, as well as to education for the youngest members of their tribe.
