The Lagos State Government on Wednesday paid N2.8 billion as pension to 464 retired employees of the state's public service.
Gov. Babatunde Fashola presented retirement bond certificates to the beneficiaries at an elaborate ceremony held in Ikeja.
The governor, represented by Mr Adesegun Ogunlewe, Head of Service, said that the payment signified government's resolve to pay pensioners their entitlements regularly.
I must commend the Lagos state government, because many older citizens never get to receive their pensions, most die while waiting. Other states please take a cue.
