Lookbook: Fashion Protege Winner - Oisetohanmen

Oisetohanmen “Omon” Isinugben emerged as the first winner of the Multi-choice Nigeria Fashion Protege Competition. Omon is the Creative Director of Abuja-based fashion label Belois Couture. Belois Couture launched in 2012 and offers elegant, original,youthful yet timeless pieces. The new collection is called “Átómu“.

“Átómu” is an Ishan word that means ‘growth/beginning’, the designer has described the collection as a representation of her “exponential growth” during the show.

Inzuki Designs is a Rwandan brand launched in 20111 by jewellery designer Teta Isibo; Initially starting with designing earrings, her hobby soon turned into a fully-blown business selling handmade jewelry, accessories and interior décor. Inzuki Designs fuses traditional craftsmanship with contemporary bold designs.

CLAN is a Nigerian Fashion label owned by sisters, Teni, Aba and Tiwa Sagoe, daughters to Deola Sagoe, launched in 2011.

The Label is certainly made a mark on the Nigerian fashion Industry as well as across Africa and gradually easing into the international markets. This Collection is another home run for the sisters who have over the years designed sophisticated and wearable pieces for women. I personally love this 'Classic' collection because of the vintage touch each design exudes. You're going to love it!

Okun Beachwear: Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Òkun is a pioneering and premium Africa-inspired men's designer swimwear brand whose ambition is to revitalize beachwear around the globe with vibrant prints and colours in contemporary African style.

Meaning 'the ocean' in Yoruba, Òkun was launched in 2012 by IT-nerd turned creative director Bola Marquis who left the corporate world with a dream of building a positive and lasting contemporary African expression in international fashion.

Launching his second ever art show and pop-up boutique, this time titled “Duro Olowu: More Material,” the Jamaican-Nigerian designer – known for his careful tailoring and beautiful use of print – fuses fashion, photography, film and art with an all female theme. The result is an unmissable follow up to his first installation – a visual treat for Olowu’s New York-based audience.

Two years in the making and opened on June 25th at Salon 94 on the Bowery, NY, the pop up, Mr Olowu explained, was curated to; “…show female rebellion in an elegant and less confrontational way.”

He is popular in the West African Francophone countries. His designs have been worn by the President and First Lady of Equatorial Guinea, and also the First Ladies of Benin Republic and Senegal.

This year, Braided Fabric makes its move into Nigeria, as it prepares to launch a new line inspired by Nigerian sound and art.

As a brand known for partnering with industry leaders, Qtaby Events represented by Victoria Nkong recently got the franchise to commercialize Braided Fabric in Nigeria.
