Following in the discerning footsteps of London, Tokyo and Singapore, 100% Design South Africa will be the platform for inspirational contemporary designs in furniture, lighting, interiors, fabrics and product that Southern Africa has ever hosted under one roof.
Gold Coast Trading is a clothing company created by Nigerian born, New York based designer, Emeka Alams, which brings together traditional Africa cultures and the Western world. Emeka calls this label his ‘effort to get back to that time’ meaning that time when:“We would gather in large numbers to mourn with those who mourn and to rejoice with those who rejoice. We have forgotten that we came from a continent where guiding, correcting and rebuking children is everybody’s’ task; a continent with green forests, clean rivers and undiscovered natural resources abound.”

Introducing the new collection by 17 year old emerging fashion designer Tehilah Abakasanga titled“Tehilah”.
The collection of feminine retro pieces was created by the designer as a representation of self. She disclosed that the designs were inspired by the colour black and its edginess and importance in her character as a person designer. The Tehilah women is someone who loves to look beautiful and the collection has something for everyone.

LAGOS - The Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN) has appealed to the Federal Government to create an environment conducive to the development of the fashion industry in the country.
Mrs. Funmi Ajila-Ladipo, President of FADAN, Lagos State Chapter, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Lagos.
She said that being one of the largest employers of labour with huge prospects, the industry had the ability to serve as an alternative source of revenue for the government.

African Fashion International (AFI) will be hosting the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa (MBFW Africa) from 30 October – 2 November 2013. The collections of more than 30 top African designers from 15 countries will be showcased in 20 runway shows in the City of Tshwane, the African Capital of Excellence.
Featured designers represent some of the best of African collections from across the continent and the Diaspora. Highlights include Taibo Bacar (Winner of the 2012 Designer of the Year – AFI Africa Fashion Awards) from Mozambique; Mille Collines from Rwanda; Mina Evans and Duaba Serwa from Ghana; Sheria Ngowi and Mustafa Hassanali from Tanzania; David Tlale,Marianne Fassler and Thula Sindi from South Africa. This exceptional line-up is a testament to AFI’s commitment to excellence in presenting the best in creative innovation and commercial success.
