The Designer and Agent Showcase Africa (DnA Africa) aims to promote emerging and established African fashion designers and their brands by connecting them to local and international fashion buyers and giving them a stepping stone to the retail industry.
DnA Africa is to create a unique business platform for these designers aiming to bridge the gap between them and the retail market. The main focus for this initiative is to bring the fashion buyers on board as well successful industry players in fashion to educate and inspire these designers into making their designs retail-able to make profit and grow their brands.
The four day programme for the event includes presentations from the Dadfund on Entrepreneurship, funding opportunities from Enablis and fashion designer, Craig Jacobs who will be sharing his journey of his career in the fashion industry. Visitors will be entertained by live performances from emerging artist such as Shan the Krump Barbie, Major Legue DJs, Lex Lafoy, DJ Flava and many more.
The first DnA Africa showcase will take place at Zen in Maboneng Precinct in Johannesburg. The showcase will take place from Thursday, 1 to Sunday, 4 August from 09:00 to 17:00. Tickets are R50 at the door.
The Maboneng Precinct has been handpicked as the ideal venue for this event, as it is fast becoming a Johannesburg capital for local and pan African designers. The event will be further complimented by the offerings in the neighbourhood throughout the weekend, with a number of places for guests to eat and shop before and after visiting the expo.
