International model Alek Wek joins Angelina Jolie & Sophie Lauren as the newest UN Refugee Agency’s (UNHCR) National Goodwill Ambassador

This made me so proud and i'm very happy for her. 

On Sunday, just days before the World Refugee day – Thursday June 20th – South Sudanese born British model Alek Wek was announced as the newest member of the ambassadors of goodwill under the United Nations Refugee Agency. She joins the ranks of Angelina Jolie and Sophie Lauren in this initiative.

The theme for this year is ‘1 family torn apart by war is 1 too many‘. Alek had this to say about her new job “I am humbled and honored to be presented with the role of UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. It is thrilling to receive this at a conference full of business people and political leaders who are working to increase development, education and healthcare in Africa”.
