South Africa has crowned a new beauty for 2012 at a glittering affair traditionally held at the Sun City Super Bowl on the evening of Sunday, 9 December.

Marilyn Ramos, a youthful 21-year-old from Klerksdorp, North West province took the crown, with Stacey Webb and Pearl Nxele taking first and second princess respectively.

First Princess of 2011 Remona Moodley handed over the crown in Melinda Bam's absence. Bam is currently preparing to take part in the Miss Universe contest that takes place in Las Vegas, USA.

"I intend to encourage young people to volunteer at old-age homes. I will achieve this by hosting workshops, motivational speeches and charity events. I will encourage the youth to visit retirement homes and hospice centres across the country."

Ramos is currently studying interior architecture at Inscape Design College in Pretoria and says that she hopes to focus on building a stronger relationship between old and young citizens because she feels that South Africa's youth can learn much from their elders.

Ramos will take home R1-million in prizes including a Volvo. Congrats to her!!
