I was in attendance at this remarkable event yesterday at Civic Center, Lagos. It is an annual event and I am looking forward to the next one.
The speakers were inspirational women from different backgrounds and they all rendered such inspirational speeches that only fueled my passion to be relevant and create a positive impact in my time. This was an 'all women event', however we had some men present. :)

The theme: THE LEADING WOMAN AS A CATALYST OF CHANGE.
The line up of speakers included:
  • Mo Abudu, Executive Director, Moments with Mo, MD/CEO Vic Lawrence.
  • Adeola Azeez, Chairperson, WIMBIZ, Country Representative,Deutsche Bank.
  • Her Excellency, Arc.Mrs.Dooshima Yemisi Suswam, First Lady Of Benue State.
  • Honorable Abike Dabiri Erewa, Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Affairs.
  • Jumoke Adenowo, Founder Awesome Treasures Foundation.
  • Zoe Molapisi, CEO and Founder of By Design Africa (Keynote Speaker).
I tried to jot down as much as I could during the program, there were so many important things said, I hope the few I got will shed some light in your Life's journey as it did mine.

Here are some of them:
1. Surround yourself with inspiring people: These are people who are focused on achieving greatness and are working tirelessly to make a positive impact in their generation.
Those who only inspire you to achieve more.
2. Support and encourage other women doing good work: Women are said to be their worst enemies, Mrs. Adeola Azeez mentioned the "PHD" syndrome- the 'Pull Her Down' syndrome, which is usually fueled by jealousy and greed.
3. Identify those things you enjoy doing and make a living out of it: This is where many of us battle the fear of failure and uncertainties. When you have confidence in your abilities, the shear determination to succeed, discipline and hard work ethics, with God on your side, we can achieve all we ever what to achieve.
4. Women have the ability to build our nation: This can be achieved by voting more women into power. we must make our voices heard.
5. What would you be doing now if you knew you wouldn't fail?': This, I believe is the question that will open our eyes and help narrow down our search of where our passion lies.  as the saying goes, 'when you start doing what you love, you will never work another day in your life'. I know people who are miserable just sitting behind a computer all day, but inside they know they are capable of doing more and achieving more. The fear of failure and uncertainties  have held many of us back. Find your 'truth'... answer this question and behind to plan towards becoming the person you were born to be.
6. Volunteering: There are so many causes, NGO's, community service programs that are constantly willing to take in volunteers. This is a great way of discovering your passion as relating to making a positive impact in other peoples lives. Even if you give an Hour from you weekend to do something good for someone else, its the most gratifying experience that anyone would ever have.
7. Financial responsibility
8. Personal Branding

I will update this post as i gather more of the topics that were addressed at the event. I hope this helps you as it has helped me.
