Constant power supply for Ondo residents.

The Ondo State government is working on generating its own electricity, to address the epileptic power supply.

The state in its power project is using the gas resources found on its coastline to power gas turbines that will generate 35 megawatts of electricity.

State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Tayo Akinjomo said that a gas turbine power plant will soon be completed at Omotosho town.
He said the power plant will complement the ones that the federal government is building also at Omotosho town.

“Many industries had relocated from Nigeria to neighbouring countries because of the epileptic power situation here. The Oluwa Glass Industry is currently not functioning because its furnace must be constantly powered. There is no way such firm could be profitably run on generators except through the latest initiative of the government to generate electricity directly for the industries,” Akinjomo said, emphasizing the importance of the electricity projects.
