IS MIKE AREMU BRINGING JILL SCOTT FOR SAX APPEAL?

Jill Scott

No word yet from the organizers, but we’ve scooped that the amazing Jill Scott may be joining other Jazz greats for the 2012 edition of Sax Appeal.

In case you’ve forgotten, Sax Appeal is the annual Jazz and related arts concert promoted by saxophonist Mike Aremu.
Now in its fourth year, the concert has featured, in the past, Judith Sephuma, Kunle Ayo, Tosin Martins, Yolanda Brown, Waje, and the almighty Kenny G.
And, although Aremu hinted last year that either or all of George Benson, Sade Aduand Dave Koz could make it for the gig this year, those close to him tell us the headliner to expect is Jill Scott.
Scott, 40, has been a force to reckon with, since her debut in year 2000. Decorated in many fields, including poetry, acting, writing and performing, she has become one of the world’s more respected artists.
Mixing R&B, Jazz, Hip-hop, spoken word and other genres; and blessed with a vocal capability that makes many marvel, Jill Scott has recruited millions of fans across the world – including in Nigeria, where hundreds of thousands will be happy to see her in concert.
Sax Appeal 4 is scheduled to hold on July 7, at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotels, in Lagos. Already announced performers include Four Kornezs, US-based Nigerian guitarist and producer Agboola Shadare and ‘drummer-girl’ Ara.
For now, all the organisers are saying is we should ‘expect another Grammy award-winning act’. Let’s hope it’s Ms Scott.
