Idea Builders Initiative; One of the Leading Women Empowerment Organizations in Nigeria

Mrs. Lucy Kanu
Idea Builders is a well-resourced organisation known for delivering women empowerment projects. We bring over eight years’ experience of delivering a portfolio of projects and complimentary services aimed at raising the economic prosperity of women & girls in Nigeria. Idea Builders’ programmes are incubated in partnering NGOs across the country and currently cover 11 states (18 Cities).

In the words of the  Executive Director, Mrs. Lucy Kanu

“We want to transform the lives of women and girls and can begin to see that we are making excellent headway. There are millions of young women/girls who often have no guidance and no support, and often struggle with complex issues including poverty, violence/sexual abuse, illiteracy and difficult home lives. For them, it is hard to envision a life outside of this challenging environment. If we can remind just one young woman of her talents, her capabilities and her potential for greatness, it would be a wonderful thing and satisfying milestone.

PROGRAMME AREAS Idea Builders’ incorporates a number of projects/initiatives that facilitate empowerment of individual women & girls entering our programmes. Women Mentoring Women™ Partnership, Womenterprise, Wellness & Wellbeing/Self Esteem, gender balance & VAW Campaigns, Leadership Preparation and Career/Social Coaching initiatives incorporated into the programmes through activities and outside facilitators. All these are closely knitted to fall under three main program thrusts:
Gender Equality - We oppose gender discrimination and all forms of violence against women & girls.
Social Entrepreneurship - We enable women to become change agents – food security champions, advocates for social justice, environment and community development.
Economic Empowerment - We equip women with social, enterprise and communications skills to grow their businesses, increase household incomes and secure their livelihoods.
