Funke Akindele,The Nigerian Top Actress was born August 24, 1976 in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria). In 2009 she won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Akindele worked in television before switching to cinema, becoming known for her starring role in the family-oriented Nigerian television show I Need to Know.
Akindele's qualifications include an OND in Mass Communication from the Ogun State Polytechnic and a law degree from the University of Lagos We have it that star actress, Funke Akindele, recently won two awards at the Zuma Film Festival in Abuja. She received a nomination for her role in the Tunde Kelani movie, MAAMi. Her movie, The Return of Jenifa was also nominated for the Highest Box Office Award.
